So here we are at the end of another cross country adventure. The kids and I said our goodbyes to Tennessee and moved back to our house in Utah. I have to say if nothing else it was a true bonding experience for Mikayla and I. We laughed a lot.... At least when she stayed awake. And it even gave me the opportunity to see some people who have become family to me over the years, the Giannelli Family.
It was a much needed reunion for all of us. And it reminded me that the best friendships last forever defying time and distance.
The rest of the journey was an adventure to say the least. At the rise of the moon the snow began to fall and it was time to get out of the car for what should have been a night of rest. However, Joey was entirely too scared to let anyone sleep!
So I found myself back on the road at dawn.... Headed out west. I was not impressed that my co-pilots decided they should catch the ZZZ's they missed the night before. Leaving me to drive in silence.
The rest of the journey was filled with sights and rising anticipation of arrival.
We made a quick stop to pick up our Baby Kylee from the Downs family and set out on our last leg of the trip. What a sweet surprise it was to come home and see that our neighbors welcomed us back with open arms!
Unfortunately, the fun only lasted for a bit and the work had to begin as we have a lot of cleaning and repairs to do to get our house back to our house!
As you can see from the start of my cleaning there is a huge difference between the way the house was left and the standard of clean I prefer to live in. The kids were not at all excited about our wall washing party! Me on the other hand was feeling a little thankful for the mess. It gave me an opportunity to paint and finally get the blue door I have been wanting!
It is still going to take a bit of work and repairs to make our house home once again. But in the end... There is no place like home. Although I miss the few Tennessee friends I made, and some of the culture Nashville has to offer, I am glad to be back in Utah. The kids are much happier and it feels like home again. In two weeks Tad will join us and we will fill our house with our belongings and settle into the next chapter of our life somewhere in the sun!
